Talk Therapy
At The Grounding Space, talk therapy is an invitation into a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space—where your story is held with care and compassion.
Rooted in a person-centred approach, we believe that you are the expert in your own life. Our role is to walk alongside you with curiosity, respect, and warmth as you explore challenges, make meaning, and move toward healing and growth.

An inclusive safe space
We welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences. Our practice is inclusive and affirming of LGBTQIA+ communities, neurodiversity, and the many ways people experience the world. Whether you're navigating anxiety, grief, trauma, or transition, you're not alone here. You are met as you are—with no pressure, no fixing, and no expectation to be anything other than yourself.
“How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for their own personal growth?”
— Carl Rogers, 1980
We honour the wisdom within each person. Counselling here is not about fixing—it's about listening deeply, walking beside you, and creating the space for your own insight, healing, and growth to emerge.
Why CHoose Counselling
-
People come to counselling for many reasons—stress, anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, or simply a sense of feeling stuck or overwhelmed. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit. Counselling offers a supportive space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals.
-
Each session is a confidential, one-on-one conversation focused on your needs. It may involve talking, reflecting, exploring patterns, developing strategies, or just having space to be heard. Some sessions may feel deep and emotional; others may feel practical and empowering.
This aligns with broader applications of clay in trauma-informed care, where grounding through sensory input is crucial to self-regulation and healing.
-
Counselling can help you:
Make sense of difficult experiences
Build emotional resilience
Process trauma and grief
Improve relationships
Manage anxiety or depression
Reconnect with your values, strengths, and goals
It’s not about giving advice—it’s about supporting you to understand yourself better and make meaningful changes.
Clay work becomes a site for identity reconstruction, social connection, and emotional healing—particularly valuable for clients navigating grief, trauma, or physical decline.
-
We offer a person-centred, creative, and trauma-informed approach. You can choose traditional talk therapy, or explore clay-based counselling—an integrative method that invites expression through touch, form, and metaphor. You get to choose what feels right for you.
-
Our counsellor is accredited with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and holds professional training in integrative counselling methods, creative therapies, and trauma-informed care.
Our sessions will be
-
PERSON-CENTRED
Every session begins with you. We'll take time to understand your story, values, and what feels important to you. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, we collaborate on a therapeutic process that honours your unique needs, pace, and strengths.
-
TRAUMA-INFORMED
We recognise that pain doesn’t always show up in obvious ways. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, grief, past trauma, or life transitions, we’ll work gently to uncover patterns, build safety, and support your healing without pushing or pathologising.
-
INTEGRATIVE
Wellbeing is multifaceted. In addition to talk-based approaches, we may incorporate creative, body-based, or mindfulness practices to support emotional regulation and self-expression. You are always in control of how we work together—this space is yours.
You don’t have to go through this alone.

We offer three distinct formats of support:
Talk Therapy: Traditional counselling sessions focused on mental health and wellbeing.
Clay + Counselling: A unique, integrated experience that combines therapeutic conversation with the grounding and expressive practice of working with clay.
Clay Sessions (Non-Therapeutic): Hands-on clay sessions for creative exploration and learning—no therapy involved.
-
If you're looking for support with mental health, life challenges, or emotional wellbeing, Talk Therapy is a great place to start.
If you're drawn to creative expression and interested in exploring your inner world through tactile experience, Clay + Counselling might be a better fit.
If you’re simply curious about clay or want to learn hand-building techniques in a relaxed environment, the Clay Sessions are perfect.

Talk Therapy may be claimable through the NDIS (self or plan managed) or some private health insurers.
Clay + Counselling may be covered under NDIS therapeutic supports depending on your goals.
Clay Sessions (non-therapeutic) are not claimable through NDIS or insurance.
We can help you navigate the options.
-
Sessions typically include time for talking, reflection, and working with clay. The clay becomes a tool for expression—helping you access emotions, symbolism, and insights that may be harder to express in words. No art experience needed—just curiosity and openness.
